Seeing God in Everything

When I first heard about this, it sounded impossible. I mean, how can you see God in suffering, poverty and illness and death ?

Then I read somewhere that, you should start with trying to see God in things you love and the people you love. For example, if you love your mom, try to see God’s love in her, pure unconditional love. If you love your girlfriend, see God’s divine beauty in her. The list goes on, once you can relate the goodness in life to God, start relating not so good things to God and then finally the evil( evil depends on the observer and is totally a subjective matter)

One more thing, I am sure you might have experienced this. If you see some beautiful flowers, you might be reminded of your girlfriend. And when I saw this photo of Colleen( on the right), I was reminded of my mom. I mean, not just her face, I felt the warmth of my mom’s love, the innocent smile and so on. When you deeply meditate on someone or something, all the things around you start looking and feeling like that person/ thing.

This also reminds me of the Story one of my college mates told me, when he went to a shoe showroom and he felt the girl at the store reminded of his girlfriend. And one of the customers asked her to remove his sock, my friend was so angry that he shouted at that guy !

Seeing God is not like some extra special effects that you see in a person, its a feeling, a feeling of oneness. On that day, you wouldn’t want to hurt anyone, either through words, thoughts or deeds. You woulnd’t want to make use of anyone. Finally on that day, you will see unity and not violence ( According to Lord Krishna, if you split something, its violence. When I count my friends, I have indirectly counted my enemies as well, hence it is violence)
