Gopalan’s jump

Gopalan is part of my team and he just can’t sit at his seat for more than 10 minutes. He doesn’t have much work since last couple of years ( very common in IT industry ) and doesn’t want to learn anything new or wouldn’t want to do casual browsing. He just loves to roam around the office, goofing around, going near people and somehow starting up some conversation. You could find out that he has wasted another person’s time, by the way, the office chair might be pulled across the pathway : his trademark sign. Gopalan is the most restless person, I have seen my entire life.

But at the same time, I feel sorry for him. There is so much unspent energy in him. I can sense that – and unlike others he has so much potential for tremendous growth, evident by his really serious interest in Astrology, numerology and mantras.

I have seen that he exhausts his energy is by just going around, pretending to show interest in other people’s things. So much energy, wasted in such a spectacular manner. At the end of everyday, I find him more tired, although he doesn’t seem to be doing much in the office. Even as days pass by, I feel, he gets more tired, by doing nothing.

But couldn’t Gopalan teach us something ? What if we could make it a goal, in our life, to spend all our energy ( which finally leads to stress ) just like Gopalan ? But rather than being focused outside, in other people’s things, what if we could focus inside, instead ? Even though Gopalan has been ridiculed countless times because of his behavior, he simply refuses to change. With a silly grain, he just goes around the office, looking for the next person, with him he could have a ‘real conversation’

What if we could focus all our inner energy and use it to find answers to questions that haunt us, spiritual seekers, day and night ? This could bring us spiritual transformation in less than 25 days ! Or at least, it can speed up the process
