Finding happiness

The phone rang and it was Jiju. Why is he calling me in the weekend, I wondered.

Jiju screamed from the other end,
“I wan to live life to the fullest but right now I am bored to the core. The same old office work, house work. I am fed up of all these” . Since Jiju was a bachelor, I suggested getting a maid for help. “No, that won’t work out, I prefer to do the things, my way. Life is so boring”. So I asked her, why don’t you get married ? You would have someone to share the responsibilities and moreover you would not have the kind of loneliness you are talking about. She was very dissatisfied with the answer and cut the call.

I thought for a moment, but then, isn’t most people in the world are dissatisfied too ? When they were kids, they just wanted to be adults, so that they could do the things the way they wanted. When they are adults they want to hastily get into a relationship and get married thinking they will get happiness there. But surprise ! you are not there yet. Then you go around looking for happiness elsewhere taking a toll on your life, relationship and money.

But isn’t the rule that, you were supposed to be happy every single second of your life ? Wasn’t the journey(journey of life ) supposed to be more enjoyable than the destination ( wealth, power , fame or love )? When did we start getting it all wrong ?

For a few minutes of happiness we are willing to give up our peace of mind, happiness and joy. Don’t believe me ? Try reading the paragraph below

A recent survey conducted on employees on several companies found that, after getting a pay raise ( salary hike ) most people are happy for a few weeks and after less than 3 months they are dissatisfied with their income levels and are eagerly waiting for the next raise ( salary hike )

A few weeks, 3 months ? Did I hear it correct ? Man ! You work the entire year, your back off for just a few weeks of happiness and they sink back to the same tiring, monotonous cycle of daily work ?

May be there is more than what meets the eye. May be, we are missing something. And unless we all find a way to make this journey beautiful and worthwhile, it makes no sense whatsoever to proceed like this, like a zombie, living outside, but dead inside.

I am sure you will have a great weekend. and happy easter too

(For the inquisitive mind, Jiju is just a fictional character. I use him/ her in my imaginary conversations to help illustrate a point )
