Spiritual seeks always complain that the world do not understand them, and because of that, people end up creating roadblocks for them. The next time you want to go for a spiritual retreat, your manager will question you. When you wear a rudraksh or a cross, your family members are deeply concerned, wondering the next step would be that, you would be leaving everything and going to the Himalayas and so on.
Fact # 1
First of all, we have to realize that, their actions could be based on ignorance and there is nothing we can do about it.
Fact # 2
There are lot of things which people do if you give them the resource. They will simply do that, without asking any questions.
I am sure, we all are clear about fact #1, and only time will change that. Fact 2, is in our control, and let’s explore that a bit.
People of this world are so stuck to the ways of the world
I was on my way home, and I had paid 2000 Rs as the bus ticket fare. At around 2:00 AM today morning, when the bus stopped for refreshments, I stepped out and found that it was raining heavily. Think about it, for 2,000 Rs, the driver is bound by the rule that, irrespective of the worst driving conditions – large multi axle bus, poor visibility, slippery road, he is supposed to drive and bring all of us safely at the destination. I mean I could carry 2 large volumes of Gita or bible or 5 KGs of sand and nobody bothers. This might seem pretty obvious, so let’s go the next example – there are many cab drivers who regularly ferry prostitutes to and from their expected destination. Sometimes, the drivers know about their passenger and sometimes they do not. In a city like Bombay or Bangalore, most probably they may not. But if you pay 150 Rs, the cab driver is supposed to take you almost 9.5 kms, and no questions asked. Something like the ‘Transporter‘ movie series.
Now let’s rewind back to our initial discussion. If you are spiritual seeker, identify areas in your life, where the “no questions asked“, policy could be followed. If you are a married person, the time you travel to your office, the time you spend while taking bath, the time you sleep are your private time. And nobody can interfere in it. Your state of mind is your private space.
As long as you do other things correctly, like for example, studying and getting good grades( in case of a student ) providing for your family, if you are grahasta, you have the privilege to spend your private time in whatever way you want, just like the analogy of paying 150 Rs, and the cab driver takes you wherever you want to go. But if you don’t pay him what he needs, then the situation quickly turns ugly. Spiritual seekers make this great blunder by hurting or forcing their philosophies onto other fellow beings and not giving them hat they require.
Think about this, If you use astral projection in your sleep, there is absolutely no way, your partner could identify that. Instead if you go to a separate room and chant mantras, that is sure recipe for disaster and bring suspicion and questions in the mind of your partner. Just like the example of paying Rs 150, and the cab driver, takes you anywhere, here too, if you lay down next to your spouse, that is the payment, no alarm bells are rung, everyone is happy, and in the sleep state, you can go anywhere you want.
Now, don’t get me wrong. I am not asking you to hide things and show two different faces. Let me ask you this. Are you 100 % sure, you are conveying exactly what is in your mind ? All of us are already walking in darkness, clearly unaware where we are going, or what is inside of us but when it comes to spirituality we want to let the world know about our plans and our works. Jesus, let the right hand not know, what your left hand is doing ( in the context of giving ). I believe this statement can be extended to all walks of life that involves spirituality.
If you are a persona living in a society, let your outward actions be based on what the society demands from you, but your inner being could running a totally different movies show. Remember, at the end, you are in control to a large extent. Make this a game, where you succeed always, without using any force. The art of fighting, without fighting.
